data-canvas-width=\"57.113599999999984\">NADUR<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"755.0178000000002\">During the last years, various members of the Christian faithful have asked the Ecclesiastical Authorities to<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"171.34520000000006\">pronounce the definitive<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"37.814800000000005\">judge<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"35.9224\">ment<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"506.1340000000002\">of the Church regarding the alleged apparitions, the alleged messages and<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"141.23280000000005\">the alleged mystical<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"242.27700000000007\">phenomena associated with Mr An<\/div>\n<div>\u0121<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"362.1622\">elik Caruana, and associated as well, among others,<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"174.549\">with the locality known a<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"34.77700000000001\">s Bor<\/div>\n<div>\u0121<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"12.515000000000002\">in<\/div>\n<div>&#8211;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"148.73600000000002\">Nadur and with the p<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"131.62140000000002\">rivate residence of<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"77.854\">the said An<\/div>\n<div>\u0121<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"125.5624\">elik Caruana, both<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"17.529600000000002\">of<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"61.669000000000004\">which lie<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"443.054\">within the territorial limits of the Parish of St Peter \u201cin chains\u201d,<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"18.581133333333337\">Bir<\/div>\n<div>\u017c<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"34.4782\">ebbu<\/div>\n<div>\u0121<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"171.74360000000004\">a, in this Archdiocese of<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"43.74100000000001\">Malta.<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"233.32959999999997\">Having considered the thorough<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"93.4082\">investigations<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"41.9316\">made<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"175.13000000000002\">on all the circumstances<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"156.28900000000002\">regarding the case, w<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"19.6212\">hic<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"12.751600000000002\">h<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"135.24020000000004\">investigations were<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"68.7406\">instructed<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"442.24060000000026\">by my predecessor, Emeritus Archbishop Mgr Paul Cremona O.P.;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"299.49720000000013\">Having carefully weighed the opinions of<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"451.4370000000002\">various experts from different fields of the natural and social<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"64.10920000000002\">sciences,<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"158.38060000000002\">and of other experts in<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"138.4108\">spiritual theology an<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"85.5564\">d Mariology;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"281.80160000000006\">Taking into consideration the amount of<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"66.0514\">witnesses<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"39.674\">heard<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"38.4788\">, and<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"89.8226\">the fact that<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"83.26559999999999\">the said Mr<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"18.315\">An<\/div>\n<div>\u0121<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"409.0904\">the criteria and the norms promulgated by the Holy See reg<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"162.9456\">arding the discernment<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"278.7306000000001\">of presumed apparitions and revelations;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"330.60560000000004\">After having consulted the College of Consultors;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"476.38680000000016\">After having taken the advice of the Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Mario Grech;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"200.7604\">BY MY PASTORAL AUTHORITY<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"61.25400000000001\">I DECREE<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"251.19119999999992\">THAT IN THIS CASE THE JUDGEMENT<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"110.95439999999998\">OF THE CHURCH<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"461.34719999999993\">REGARDING THE SAID ALLEGED APPARITIONS, ALLEGED MESSAGES,<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"312.59459999999996\">AND OTHER ALLEGED MYSTICAL PHENOMENA<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"248.96679999999998\">IS THAT THEIR ORIGIN IS NOT DIVINE<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"434.1895999999999\">AND THAT THEY ARE NOT TO BE REGARDED AS SUPERNATURAL:<\/div>\n<div>(<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"278.6974000000001\">CONSTAT DE NON SUPERNATURALITATE<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"9.383\">).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"22.642400000000002\">the<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"222.4898\">Christian faithful to refrain from<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"271.19420000000014\">the promotion, in any way whatsoever,<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"17.529600000000002\">of<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"195.53140000000005\">the said alleged apparitions,<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"57.50239999999999\">the said<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"151.65760000000006\">alleged messages and<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"238.79100000000003\">other alleged mystical phenomena;<\/div>\n<div>&#8211;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"56.6724\">I exhort<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"536.6780000000005\">the Christian Community in Malta to continue promoting the true devotion<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"88.24559999999998\">towards the<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"695.1084000000003\">Eucharist, towards the Blessed Virgin Mary, and towards the Saints according to the official Liturgy of<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"79.265\">the Church<\/div>\n<div>\u2013<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"364.1542000000001\">especially the celebration of the Mass and the Liturg<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"102.96979999999999\">y of the Hours<\/div>\n<div>\u2013<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"119.40380000000002\">and according to<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"694.8096000000002\">the forms of devotional prayer approved by the Church, in particular the devotion of the Way of the<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"293.32200000000006\">Cross and the recitation of the Holy Rosary;<\/div>\n<div>&#8211;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"69.02280000000002\">I reiterate<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"430.50440000000026\">the clear teaching of Sacred Scripture and the Church as found i<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"86.8346\">n the text of<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"104.81239999999998\">The Catechism<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"204.76100000000005\">of the Catholic Church (nn. 65<\/div>\n<div>&#8211;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"21.9792\">67)<\/div>\n<div>:<\/div>\n<div>*<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"154.7286\">Christ, the Son of God<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"474.89280000000025\">made man, is the Father\u2019s one, perfect and unsurpassable Word. In<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"471.50640000000016\">him he has said everything; there will be no other word than this one.<\/div>\n<div>*<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"218.38959999999997\">\u201cThe Christian economy, theref<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"416.74300000000005\">ore, since it is the new and definitive Covenant, will never<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"635.2488000000001\">pass away; and no new public revelation is to be expected before the glorious manifestation<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"349.3470000000001\">of our Lord Jesus Christ\u201d (Second Vatican Council,<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"80.62620000000001\">Dei Verbum<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"203.4828\">, 4). Yet even if Revelation is<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"72.32620000000003\">already co<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"563.0554000000001\">mplete, it has not been made completely explicit; it remains for Christian faith<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"472.3862000000002\">gradually to grasp its full significance over the course of the centuries.<\/div>\n<div>*<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"288.80680000000007\">Throughout the ages, there have been so<\/div>\n<div>&#8211;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"341.14660000000003\">called \u201cprivate\u201d revelations, some of which have<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"80.54320000000003\">been recog<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"278.5978\">nized by the authority of the Church<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"262.7116000000001\">(e.g. Lourdes [1858]; Fatima [1917])<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"8.151566666666668\">;<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"634.9334000000001\">however, they do not belong to the deposit of the faith.
