He had planned to pull an \u201call-nighter.\u201d He was desperate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As he told a national prayer breakfast, \u201cYou can\u2019t be a pre-med and fail in chemistry.\u201d He prayed, saying, \u201cLord, medicine is the only thing I ever wanted to do\u2026 Would you please tell me what is it you really want me to do?\u201d In his sleep came a dream and in the dream he was alone in an auditorium and a \u201cnebulous figure\u201d was writing chemistry problems on a blackboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen I went to take the test the next morning, it was like\u00a0<em>The Twilight Zone<\/em>,\u201d Dr. Carson recounted. \u201cI opened that book and I recognized the first problem as one of the ones I dreamed about!
