{"id":96,"date":"2014-03-14T14:49:50","date_gmt":"2014-03-14T14:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.free-rosary.net\/?p=96"},"modified":"2014-03-14T14:49:50","modified_gmt":"2014-03-14T14:49:50","slug":"hundreds-flock-to-glowing-virgin-mary-statue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.free-rosary.net\/?p=96","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds flock to glowing Virgin Mary statue"},"content":{"rendered":"<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"100%\">Hundreds flock to glowing Virgin Mary statue<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\" valign=\"top\">Thursday, 13 March 2014<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\" valign=\"top\">Hundreds of people have been flocking to a house in southern Belgium to catch a glimpse of a small statue of the Virgin Mary which reportedly glows in the dark.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/cartemarialedumonde.org\/files\/cmm\/images\/notre-dame-banneux\/2551029-travelpicture-banneux.jpg\" width=\"295\" height=\"393\" align=\"left\" \/><br \/>\nLocal media reported that on Wednesday, 500 people visited the house in the normally quiet town of Jalhay to witness what is being referred to as &#8220;the mysterious glowing Virgin&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Police have been required to bolster their presence around a pavilion erected by the retired Belgian owners of the statue, which witnesses suggest lets out a dull glow after dark.<\/p>\n<p>The phenomenon was first noticed in mid-January and has gradually attracted larger crowds, with local media reporting that some of those visiting the statue claim to have been cured of a skin condition.<\/p>\n<p>The statue, about 30 centimetres (one foot) in height, represents the &#8220;Virgin of Banneux&#8221;, from the name of a nearby village where in 1933 a young girl was said to have witnessed an appearance by the Virgin.<\/p>\n<p>The town has since become a pilgrim destination in largely Catholic Belgium, although Catholic authorities from the Banneux sanctuary are expressing caution about the &#8220;glowing&#8221; Virgin.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/macedoniaonline.eu\/content\/view\/24865\/53\/\">http:\/\/macedoniaonline.eu\/content\/view\/24865\/53\/<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hundreds flock to glowing Virgin Mary statue Thursday, 13 March 2014 Hundreds of people have been flocking to a house in southern Belgium to catch a glimpse of a small statue of the Virgin Mary which reportedly glows in the dark.
